Every winter, the track is a well-visited lane for pedestrians as well as skaters and other means of transport.

It stretches between Södra and Norra hamn and out to the barbecue mecca on Gråsjälören.

It is not only Luleå residents who use the ice but also many tourists, and it is possible to borrow kicks at one of the car parks around the ice rink.

Not sure if it's ready for Christmas

Last year, the ice road could be opened in connection with Christmas, but at the time of writing, it is uncertain whether it will succeed this year.

- It depends on how cold it gets, so maybe.

It means a lot and especially now during the corona it is good for people to get out and move, says Fagervall.

Live competition scheduled for February

For several years, the Dutch have arranged skating competitions on the ice rink.

A large event that was broadcast live on TV in Holland.

And as it looks now, there will be competitions again in mid-February next year.

- They aim to come if there is no stop from the municipality.

It is a popular competition and an advantage for Luleå, says Andreas Fagervall.
