Heidenheim (dpa) - With the third win in a row, 1. FC Heidenheim has increased the concerns of Hannover 96.

Led by striker Christian Kühlwetter, Heidenheim defeated the guests from Lower Saxony 1-0 (1-0) on Saturday.

Thanks to the ninth goal of the season by Kühlwetter, the near-climber from the previous season now moved up to fifth place in the 2nd Bundesliga.

The Hanoverians of coach Kenan Kocak, who improved in the second half, initially remain 13th, but can slip further on Sunday.

Cool weather alone could have hurt even more.

In his opening goal, the 24-year-old prevailed against Baris Basdas in the running duel, although he put down on Patrick Schmidt again in the penalty area.

But the defense attempt by the Hanoverians landed again at Kühlwetter and the 96 goalkeeper Michael Ratajczak overcame the deserved 1-0 for the hosts who were superior in the first half.

Substitute keeper Ratajczak stood in for Michael Esser, who had not traveled to Heidenheim due to a groin problem.

A week after the 1-0 win at Hamburger SV, Hannover 96 only came into play much better after the break, and coach Frank Schmidt's Heidenheim team had hardly any offensive actions for a long time.

The most dangerous was the completion of substitute Florent Muslija (87th).

Before that, Kühlwetter had missed the decision for Heidenheim a quarter of an hour before the end.
