Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - In other Hessian municipalities, night exit restrictions and alcohol bans in public have been in effect since Saturday due to the persistently high number of corona infections.

For example, people in the city and district of Offenbach, but also in the Limburg-Weilburg district, are only allowed to leave their apartments between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. for a valid reason.

This includes going to work, walking the dog or visiting the doctor.

People outside these communities are then no longer allowed to be in public space.

The regulations came into effect at midnight.

In the Groß-Gerau and Main-Kinzig districts, the exit restrictions have been in effect since Friday (9 p.m.).

The district of Giessen follows on Sunday night (midnight).

The exit restrictions are limited in time in the respective municipalities, but mostly until shortly before Christmas.

Violations are to be punished with fines, in Offenbach, for example, it costs 200 euros the first time, in the event of repetition the fine should be doubled.

In addition, individual municipalities are tightening restrictions such as the requirement to wear a mask or issuing alcohol bans in public places in order to contain the spread of the corona pandemic.

In the state capital Wiesbaden, for example, a mask requirement and a ban on alcohol apply on the central Luisenplatz from Saturday.

On Tuesday, the state government committed the districts and independent cities to the drastic means of the exit restrictions as soon as the so-called seven-day incidence exceeds 200 for three days in a row.

The value indicates how many infections per 100,000 inhabitants are registered within a week.
