Berlin (AP) - Borussia Dortmund has experienced a home debacle against VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga and threatens to lose touch with the top of the table.

BVB lost to VfB 1: 5 (1: 1) and after three series games without a win are already five points behind RB Leipzig.

The Saxons won 2-0 (2-0) against Werder Bremen and at least initially took first place from FC Bayern Munich, who had to play at 1. FC Union Berlin that evening.

Borussia Mönchengladbach missed on the eleventh game day to get closer to the top group.

The Gladbach team separated 1: 1 (0: 0) from Hertha BSC and remain seventh.

In the basement of the table, 1. FC Köln scored 1-0 (0-0) at FSV Mainz 05 and SC Freiburg, who defeated Arminia Bielefeld 2-0 (0-0), scored important victories.

After a weak initial phase, BVB deservedly fell behind with a penalty hit by Silas Wamangituka (27th minute).

Giovanni Reyna scored 1: 1 (39th), before Wamangituka (53rd), Philipp Förster (60th), Tanguy Coulibaly (63rd) and Nicolas Gonzalez (90th + 1) the defensive sloppiness of the Borussia punished.

Without the injured Erling Haaland, the Revierclub was far too harmless offensively and thus only got one point from the last three Bundesliga games.

Leipzig also took the lead against Bremen through a penalty kick.

Marcel Sabitzer made sure to convert (26th), Dani Olmo added for the hosts before the break (41st).

The Saxons have been undefeated in the league since the end of October.

Bremen, on the other hand, suffered their third defeat in a row and threatens to slip in the table.

The team from Gladbach rotated to six positions three days after reaching the last sixteen of the Champions League and did not get beyond a draw at home against Hertha.

The newcomer Matteo Guendouzi from Berlin put the guests in the lead with his first Bundesliga goal (47th), Breel Embolo equalized (70th).
