Berlin (dpa / bb) - In protest against the expansion of motorways and for compliance with the Paris climate goals, hundreds of people want to cycle on the Autobahn 100 this Saturday in Berlin.

At 10.30 a.m., a bicycle demo with 250 registered participants is to start at Hermannplatz in Neukölln, as a police spokesman said on Friday.

The participants want to drive over the A 100 to the triangle radio tower.

Individual sections of the motorway are to be closed to protect cyclists.

At the Dreieck radio tower, the merger with another demo is planned, which should start at 10:00 a.m. at the Glienicker Bridge in Potsdam.

The demo participants then want to cycle together to the Reuter West coal-fired power station via the AVUS (automobile traffic and practice road).

The demo alliance for climate protection made up of Changing Cities, Endegebiet and other organizations is calling for a U-turn in transport policy five years after the Paris Agreement was signed.

A reversal of the auto-centered policy is currently neither nationwide nor in Berlin in sight, it said.
