Ludwigshafen (dpa / lrs) - Several fires in Rhineland-Palatinate caused the fire brigade to deploy on Friday night.

After a fire in an apartment in Ludwigshafen, a man was rescued by the emergency services and taken to a hospital, as the fire department announced on Friday morning.

Five other residents could have brought themselves to safety when the apartment on the third floor of the multi-storey building caught fire.

A fire in a carpenter's workshop in Bodenbach in the Vulkaneifel district called around 80 fire fighters.

According to a police spokesman, the extinguishing work of the flames reported around 3 a.m. should continue for a few hours.

There were no injuries.

In Speyer, emergency services were called to a fire in a shop around 4 a.m.

The investigations into the cause of the fire and the amount of damage continued in all three cases.
