Fulda (dpa / lhe) - In the case of the temporarily missing eight-year-old from Fulda, the police are now investigating four people - including the parents.

"You are suspected of having contributed to the disappearance of the boy and to have taken him out of the custody of the youth welfare office," said the police and the public prosecutor on Friday.

The parents have no custody of the child.

The boy was found safe and sound at the beginning of December after his disappearance from Fulda in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The four suspects are between the ages of 24 and 48.

According to investigators, the child lived in a residential group separate from the parents.

At a meeting with his mother in a youth welfare facility, he went to the toilet and disappeared.

The police started a search with a drone and thermal imaging camera.

The fire brigade and the rescue dog team were also on duty.

About a day later, the boy was discovered by a friend in the Medebach area (Hochsauerlandkreis) and handed over to the youth welfare office.

"In addition to the criminal investigation into suspected deprivation of minors, the police are currently examining whether the costs for the operational measures in the amount of several thousand euros can be invoiced to those responsible," said the investigators.

At first, they did not provide any information about the other suspects.
