The Republic on the move has appointed seven "leaders" for the regional elections, including the Minister of Education Jean-Michel Blanquer or the former President of the Assembly François de Rugy, pending official candidatures in early 2021, a indicated on Friday an internal source confirming press information.

Mr. Blanquer is currently the showcase of LREM in Ile-de-France, Mr. Rugy in Pays de la Loire.

The Secretary of State for Biodiversity Bérangère Abba is assigned to the Grand Est, as well as the deputies Daniel Labaronne in Center-Val de Loire, Florian Boudié in New Aquitaine, Jean-René Cazeneuve in Occitanie or even Didier Paris in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, said an executive from LREM, confirming in particular the daily L'Opinion.

"This leader has a role of coordinator of the team, of the project, of interlocutor for the partner movements. It is an internal role", details to AFP the deputy Marie Guévenoux, in charge of the regional elections for LREM.

"In due course we will have candidates who we will support, but that time has not come," she added.

In the six missing regions (Corsica, PACA, Hauts-de-France, Brittany, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Normandy), the leaders should be appointed in early 2021.

But these appointments do not preempt the outcome of the political negotiations taking place in parallel, while in New Aquitaine or Center-Val de Loire, the Modem ministers Geneviève Darrieussecq and Marc Fesneau could ultimately lead the majority list. .

The regional elections, initially scheduled for March 2021, should be postponed to June due to the health context.

Given this timetable, the candidates supported by LREM should be known between February and March 2021.
