A child died in Los Angeles County in America this week due to a syndrome associated with "Covid-19" disease caused by an emerging corona virus infection .. What is this disease, and what are its symptoms?

The name of this disease is "Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children" (MIS-C).

The child died of complications related to the syndrome while receiving treatment at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.

A hospital spokesman said that he was suffering from "a complex, pre-existing heart condition," according to a report by Newsweek.

The case is believed to be the first COVID-19 related death of a child in Los Angeles.

The hospital's public relations team said that no further details could be published at this time due to the rules regarding patient privacy.

Scientists do not know the causes of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children, but it appears that children with the syndrome have contracted the Coronavirus or have been in contact with a person with the disease.

According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, pediatric multisystem inflammatory syndrome is a condition in which different parts of the body can become inflamed, including the heart, lungs, and kidneys, as well as the brain, skin, eyes, and organs of the digestive system.

A dangerous and even fatal disease

The American centers say that we do not yet know what causes the syndrome, but we do know that many of the children who were infected with it were infected with the Corona virus, or were near a person with Covid-19.

She added that the disease can be dangerous and even deadly, but most children diagnosed with this condition have improved with medical care.

Dr Jackie Szmoskovic, a pediatric cardiologist at Los Angeles Children's Hospital, said she expected to see additional cases.

"With the number of cases that we're seeing in Los Angeles now, I expect to see more children with MSD come to the hospital in the next few weeks ... We are at a critical moment now," she explained.

According to the latest statistics from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, 43 children have been confirmed hospitalized with this syndrome, and nearly half of them have had to be treated in intensive care units.
