In China, a real estate agent used facial recognition technology to sell a house without the owner's knowledge.

According to Chinese media such as China CCTV and Global Times, Wei Mo, a real estate broker in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, committed such a crime by using a loophole in an online real estate registration platform operated by the authorities.

Mr. Wei signed a real estate sales agency contract with Mr. Li Mo, who came to sell the house in September, and recognized Mr. Lee with his mobile phone, saying that it is necessary for review of related documents.

Since then, Wei has sold the house at will, using the fact that it is possible to not only search the real estate owned but also change the name by facial recognition on the Nanning Authority's real estate registration platform.

From June to October, a total of 10 people were affected by this method, and the amount of damage due to name change or mortgage loans was reported to be 10 million yuan and our money was over 1.67 billion won.

While investigating the case, police froze deals in the housing in question.

The Nanning Authority has taken steps to improve the loopholes in the online registration platform and prepare supplementary measures, such as notifying the person of the work in progress at each facial recognition.
