Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The state government has requested an emergency meeting of the state parliament on the corona situation for next Tuesday.

There is to be informed about the results of a switching conference between the prime ministers of the federal states with Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU), which should take place promptly at the request of several heads of government, said a government spokesman on Thursday.

Due to the increasing number of infections with the coronavirus in Germany, MV Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) and her Kiel counterpart Daniel Günther (CDU) have already discussed a hard shutdown before Christmas.

Schwesig spoke out in favor of closing the retail trade for the 4th Advent (December 20th).

Grocery stores should be excluded from this.

The regulations should apply until January 10th.

Nationwide, a record number of new infections was reported on Thursday morning.

The health authorities reported 23,679 new infections to the Robert Koch Institute within one day.

The previous record was reached on November 20 with 23,648 reported cases.
