Oyten (dpa / lni) - Not only burning candles are dangerous in the Christmas season: electric lights caused a fire on Thursday in Oyten (Verden district) with three slightly injured people.
They were taken to the hospital with suspected smoke inhalation, said a fire department spokesman.
The fire had broken out in a ground floor apartment in an apartment building when the decoration was switched on.
The flames seized a sofa, which the tenant of the apartment and helpers threw out the window without further ado.
The fire brigade quickly put out the fire.
The police are investigating the exact cause.
