Frankfurt (Oder) (dpa / bb) - More and more districts and urban districts in Brandenburg are reacting with stricter corona rules to the increasing number of infections.

In Frankfurt (Oder), a mask requirement has also been in effect for primary school students and in more heavily frequented areas of the city since Thursday.

Consumption of alcohol in public and weekly markets are prohibited.

In the Oder-Spree district, elementary school students have had to wear masks inside and outside in schools since Thursday, while high school students have more than 200 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in a week with alternating lessons in school and at home.

Weekly markets and the consumption of alcohol in public are also prohibited here.

The state capital Potsdam had also announced further measures on Wednesday evening to contain the spread of the corona virus.

The mask requirement has been extended to the city center and Babelsberg since Thursday.

For high school students alternating lessons between school and home should apply.

A ban on alcohol in parts of the city center and a ban on eating food at weekly markets are in planning.

The Corona hotspot Oberspreewald-Lausitz will introduce a nightly curfew between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. on Monday, as announced on Wednesday.

Secondary schools will be closed until January 8th.

In the Spree-Neisse district there have been stricter rules since December 5th, such as a ban on alcohol in public places.
