Monheim (dpa / lnw) - The city of Monheim gave in to a violent dispute with the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and closed its ice rink in front of the town hall on Thursday evening until further notice.

The city announced.

The NRW Ministry of Health had requested the immediate closure because the railway violated the Corona Protection Ordinance.

The city had rated it differently and opened the ice rink for school classes and individual families until Thursday.

The city announced that the country has now enforced its position with an order with immediate execution.

However, a lawsuit is pending before the Düsseldorf administrative court against the closure.

"I am still optimistic that the closure will prove to be legally untenable," said Monheim's mayor Daniel Zimmermann, according to the announcement.

The railway will therefore not be dismantled, but only guarded by a security service so that nobody enters it.
