Hamburg (dpa / lno) - handball second division HSV Hamburg has strengthened in the right back space.

As the club announced on Thursday, left-hander Jannik Hausmann has moved from the southern third division TV Plochingen to the Hanseatic city.

The 26-year-old receives a contract with the table runner-up until the end of the current season and is already entitled to play in the home game on Saturday (7.30 p.m.) against TV Emsdetten.

Hausmann, who has played 120 Bundesliga games for HBW Balingen-Weilstetten, steps in for Jan Forstbauer in Hamburg.

The only back space right to date had suffered a broken nose in the away win over Wilhelmshaven HV (31:25) and is out for at least a week.

Contact with HSV and their coach Jansen had already existed at the beginning of the season, but no commitment had come about.

“But I always hoped that the Hamburg area code would light up again on my cell phone,” said the newcomer.
