Hamburg (dpa / lno) - The Hamburg Towers have expanded their winning streak in the basketball Bundesliga.

The team of coach Pedro Calles won in the edel-optics.de-Arena on Thursday evening in the catch-up game against the Jobstairs Gießen 46ers with 100: 79 and thus recorded the fifth success in the fifth game.

For the first time, the Hanseatic League cracked the 100-point mark this season.

Jordan Swing was the best Towers thrower with 28 points.

With five successful three-pointers in five attempts, the American was also the man in the first quarter and was instrumental in the interim 22:11 lead of his team after around six minutes.

As a result, however, the hosts acted a bit unfocused and allowed Gießen to come back to within six points.

Also thanks to the four other three-point throws by Justus Hollatz, Swing (2) and Zac Cuthbertson, the Towers moved away in the middle of the second quarter to 42:22.

Although the Hanseatics did not succeed in every offensive action until the break, the Gießeners had the defensive largely under control.

Despite the clear lead, the Towers continued to systematically get down to business in the third quarter and kept the guests at a distance, even if the third part of the game finally went to Gießen at 28:26.

However, the lead should be sufficient so that the Towers in the final quarter were no longer in danger.

On Sunday (3 p.m.) there will be the top game against Ulm in the Wilhelmsburger Halle.
