Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - Compared to other cities in North Rhine-Westphalia, Bonn has a particularly large number of people with private health insurance.

The former German capital had the highest proportion of privately insured people in the population nationwide in 2019, at 20.9 percent, the State Statistical Office announced on Thursday.

At the other end of the spectrum, Duisburg was to be found.

In the Ruhr area city, the proportion of privately insured persons was 5.9 percent last year.

That was well below the nationally calculated value for NRW of 11.2 percent.
