In several articles, SVT Nyheter Skåne has reviewed the new American medical record system within Skåne's digital care system (SDV) and most recently reported on the decision to start transferring the Scanians' sensitive patient data to Cerner's servers in order to test the system.

Both the region's own experts and other IT lawyers have highlighted the risks of a transfer to a US-owned company, which Cerner is.

SVT Nyheter Skåne has also asked to take part in risk analyzes that are available and that will show very serious risks in the event that US authorities request patient information in accordance with the US Cloud Act.

New laws

On Thursday, the regional board decided to stop the decision to transfer personal data and instruct the regional director to carry out an independent legal review.

According to the regional board, the background to the decision is that the legislation has recently changed and the conditions have partly changed since the procurement was made.

It must also be clarified whether further measures are required to ensure that Swedish legislation is complied with.

According to the regional board, no transfer of personal data will take place before a reconciliation has been made with the political reference group that follows SDV.
