Rostock (dpa / mv) - In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, a further 242 corona infections were registered on Thursday.

This was announced by the State Office for Health and Social Affairs in Rostock.

The day before, there were 294 cases - the highest number ever registered in MV.

On Thursday last week, the office reported 179 infections.

Six more people died in connection with a corona infection, so that the number of registered deaths in the country rose to 94.

The seven-day incidence rose from 66.7 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week on Wednesday to 70.8 now.

Nationwide, a record number of new infections was reported on Thursday morning.

The health authorities reported 23,679 new infections to the Robert Koch Institute within one day.

The previous record was reached on November 20 with 23,648 reported cases.

Three regions in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania have meanwhile exceeded the mark of 100 for the seven-day incidence.

In Schwerin the value was highest on Thursday at 112.9, followed by the Ludwigslust-Parchim district with 103.4 and the Mecklenburg Lake District with 101.5.

An incidence value of 93.8 was calculated for Western Pomerania-Greifswald, 83.3 for Northwest Mecklenburg and 56.1 for Western Pomerania-Rügen.

Rostock (13.4) and the district of Rostock (19.9) had by far the lowest values.

The total number of corona infections confirmed nationwide has now risen to 7598. 5535 of those affected are considered recovered.

153 corona patients are currently being treated in hospitals, 39 of them in intensive care units.
