The drama was probably narrowly avoided.

A 19-year-old man was taken into police custody in Saint-Nazaire after being caught in the act of attempted homicide, reports the national police.

The facts occurred Tuesday evening, shortly after 11 p.m., in an apartment on Avenue Albert-de-Mun, in the city center of the port city.

The police were called upon following a call to 17 for domestic violence.

Arrived at the door of the accommodation, they then hear screams inside.

By opening the door (not locked), they then discovered a man crouching over a woman strangling the latter lying on the ground.

She also had a garment pulled into her mouth.

The 26-year-old victim is safe and sound but very shocked.

She was taken care of on site by the firefighters and then taken to the Saint-Nazaire hospital center.

The investigation is continuing.
