A check for 2.5 billion euros.

The debtor ?

Ile-de-France Mobilities at 100%.

The reason ?

The renewal of the RER B trains. This Wednesday, IDFM "voted for investment and 100% financing for the acquisition of 146 new trains to replace all the RER B trains, starting in 2025" , announces the public establishment.

Good news for the million daily travelers of the RER B, "the second most used line in Europe after line A, 1.3 million", according to IDFM.

The line has experienced "growth of + 3% of travelers per year for more than 10 years (before the health crisis), and reaches saturation during rush hour with a quality of service offered to travelers which has deteriorated for several years", recognizes Ile-de-France Mobilities.

The 146 new “more capacity and more efficient” trains of this order are due to arrive on the rails between 2025 and 2030.
