Amnesty writes in a statement on its website.

“The Board of Amnesty Sweden and Anna Lindenfors have different views on the future and the challenges the organization faces.

That is why we have chosen to go our separate ways.

In accordance with her contract, Anna Lindenfors is released from work with immediate effect ”.

- It is the challenges that will come for Amnesty, with major financial challenges, equality work and a reorganization that form the basis for our decision.

It is an overall picture of the leadership, says Parul Sharma, chairman of Amnesty International in Sweden.

"No irregularities"

According to Parul Sharma, the organization is in the middle of determining the budget and business plan for the coming year and how much you will need to save is not yet clear.

- There are no irregularities behind the decision.

Amnesty and Anna Lindenfors agree that we see the future differently.

The work of finding a new Secretary General will begin next year.

Anna Johansson, currently Deputy Director General, will lead the work until an Acting Secretary General is appointed.

Anna Lindenfors has been Secretary General of the Swedish part of Amnesty since 2014 and before that was head of International Save the Children's work in the Philippines.

SVT is looking for Anna Lindenfors.
