The street dog Arthur got a meatball from Mikael Lindnord during a break among the mountains in Ecuador.
After that, the dog followed the rest of the tough competition.
What followed made Arthur a world news that will now become a feature film in Hollywood.
For six years he had to live with his family in Örnsköldsvik.
- Arthur passed away yesterday after a short illness.
He was in an animal hospital for care for the last ten days, says Charlotte Schéle who is the Lindnord family's press contact.
"Thank you Ecuador for lending us such a beautiful soul," writes owner Mikael Lindnord on social media.
