Halle / Leipzig (dpa) - In view of the announced tough corona lockdown in neighboring Saxony from next Monday, Halle's mayor Bernd Wiegand is relying on coordinated action in Saxony-Anhalt.
“That means additional traffic from people in the south of our country.
In our opinion, the current measures are not sufficient, ”said the non-party politician on Wednesday.
Wiegand reported that he made contact with the district administrator of the Saalekreis.
"We agree that at least the south of Saxony-Anhalt must react with coordinated joint measures in order to intercept the measures in Saxony or possibly also to join these measures."
The mayor emphasized: “I don't think it makes sense to wait until we have an incidence figure of 200 and actually come to the brink of the burden in the hospitals.
Rather, I think it is more important to propose preventive action under hazard prevention law here. "
The mayor pointed out the steadily increasing number of infections in the city of Halle and throughout Saxony-Anhalt.
The hospitals in the Saalestadt are caring for an increasing number of Covid-19 patients.

A possible shopping tourism from Saxony to Saxony-Anhalt had also occupied the cabinet in Magdeburg the day before.
Health Minister Petra Grimm-Benne (SPD) had expressed her great concern that many Saxons could come to Saxony-Anhalt due to closed shops.
A regulation must be found for this.
