UNEP (United Nations Environment Program) publishes an annual report on greenhouse gases, calling on countries to strengthen their measures, saying that last year's global emissions were the highest ever.

UNEP has been publishing a report on greenhouse gases every year since 2010, and on the 9th, it released this report.

According to this, the world's greenhouse gas emissions over the last year totaled 59.1 billion tons, the third consecutive year of increase, the highest ever.

On the other hand, this is that carbon dioxide emissions are expected to decrease by about 7% compared to last year due to restrictions on going out and economic activities implemented by each country as a countermeasure against the new coronavirus.

Even so, the effect of suppressing global warming can only be expected to be 0.01 degrees Celsius by 2050, and in the future, each country will make efforts to achieve the goals of the international framework "Paris Agreement" for global warming countermeasures. If not strengthened, the world's average temperature is likely to rise by more than 3 degrees by the end of this century.

In addition, the report states that by strengthening the "green recovery" policy in which each country invests in technologies in the environmental field such as renewable energy, annual greenhouse gas emissions will be 15 billion tons by 2030. We are requesting each country to strengthen its measures, saying that it may be possible to reduce it by more than 25% compared to the assumption.
