Almost six years after the shock waves of the January 2015 attacks, the national anti-terrorism prosecution announced, Tuesday, December 8, the sentences required against the 14 defendants tried before the special assize court in Paris, described as the "kingpin" of the attacks.

He notably demanded thirty years of criminal imprisonment against Amedy Coulibaly's fleeing companion, Hayat Boumeddiene, tried by default at the trial of the January 2015 attacks against Charlie Hebdo and the Hyper Cacher.

The prosecution requested a two-thirds safety period against the young woman, believing that she had played an "important role" in the preparation of the attacks.

"She has never denied the merits of her husband's action" and "has become an instrument of propaganda" of the Islamic State group, argued the prosecution.

On trial since September 2, the 14 defendants are being prosecuted for their alleged support for the Kouachi brothers and Amedy Coulibaly, perpetrators of the attacks from January 7 to 9, 2015 against Charlie Hebdo, a policewoman from Montrouge and a Hyper Cacher supermarket.

These attacks, the first of an unprecedented wave in France, left 17 dead and raised a shock wave.

Aged 29 to 68, the defendants face sentences ranging from ten years in prison to life imprisonment.

Three of them are judged by default, including Hayat Boumeddiene, Coulibaly's ex-companion, not found since her flight to Syria a few days before the attacks.
