South Korean President Moon Jae-in announced on the 8th that he would consider joining the TPP = Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement.

China is also eager to participate in the TPP, and the focus will be on whether it will lead to concrete movements.

A trade event was held in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, on the 8th, and President Moon Jae-in made a speech.

In this, President Mun said, "All countries will compete fiercely to anticipate the global market that will recover from the new coronavirus," and emphasized the idea that South Korea attaches great importance to its efforts to expand exports.

President Mun then said that he would "continue to consider" participation in the TPP.

South Korea has been considering joining the TPP for some time, but according to several South Korean media, it is the first time President Mun has made such a reference.

Last month, South Korea also agreed on RCEP = Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, in which 15 countries, mainly East Asia, participate, and in order to curb the effects of the US-China conflict over trade, it is multilateral. We will consider participating in the framework.

On the TPP, last month also Xi Jinping Jintao of China, have shown a willingness to participate, it will be the focal point or will lead to concrete movement between these countries in the future.
