Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - In the midst of the aviation crisis, the leadership dispute in the flight attendant union UFO has escalated further.

After managing director Nicoley Baublies, the chairman Daniel Flohr is now also thrown down, as the union announced on Tuesday in Mörfelden near Frankfurt.

He wanted to prevent an internal power struggle that ignited his person, said Flohr, who was elected to office in February.

The UFO must concentrate on its tasks.

"The Lufthansa Group also wants to cut thousands of jobs, UFO has to take care of that - not internal trench warfare."

Flohr wants to leave the branch union by June 30, 2022 at the latest because the decision-making processes seem too formal and slow to him, as he made clear in a letter to the members.

The further procedure will be discussed next Thursday in the board, which has already been reduced to five people after two resignations.

Flohr is considered to be a close confidante and companion of the former chairman Baublies.

Together, the duo had determined the crisis negotiations with Lufthansa and concluded the cornerstones of a restructuring collective agreement that protects the approximately 22,000 flight attendants of the Lufthansa core company from redundancies for operational reasons until the end of 2023.

Before the Corona crisis, after several strikes, Lufthansa questioned the tariff eligibility of the UFO and questioned the authority of the then board of directors.
