Potsdam (dpa / bb) - The SPD parliamentary group is committed to promoting municipal clinic networks in Brandenburg.

Especially in the corona pandemic, what the country has in its health system is visible, said its deputy chairman Björn Lüttmann on Monday in Potsdam.

"There shouldn't be any savings in future."

A position paper on hospital financing was presented.

According to the coalition agreement of the red-black-green state government, all hospital locations in the country are to be retained.

"The corona pandemic is also a stress test for the hospitals," said Potsdam's Lord Mayor Mike Schubert (SPD), who is also a member of the SPD working group.

"We need adequate funding and the establishment of joint networks."

In order to be well prepared for future events, money is needed to set up and maintain appropriate structures.

In the coming year, the state will provide almost 130 million euros for investments in hospitals;

in addition there are 24 million euros in federal funds.

With a view to publicly sponsored hospitals, the state government should develop a concept to strengthen them in the medium term, the SPD paper emphasizes.

A concept to promote regional hospital associations is suggested.

To this end, a working group could be set up in which local authorities, health insurance companies and the association of statutory health insurance physicians work together.

Centralized purchasing or specialization in certain medical areas could, for example, achieve economic effects.

In addition, it is about maintaining emergency care on site and the increased use of medical care centers run by local authorities.
