Mainz (dpa / lrs) - After digital attacks on hospitals and other facilities, the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of the Interior and the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) are today informing about the cyber security of companies.

This question is gaining in importance, the ministry said and also pointed out that customer data had been diverted from municipal utilities.

In addition to Interior Minister Roger Lewentz (SPD) and LKA President Johannes Kunz, the information security officer of the state administration, Oliver Gabel, and the head of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, Elmar May, also take part in the event.

In June, the state data protection officer Dieter Kugelmann reported several data breaches by companies and public authorities. A new type of malware is responsible, which in addition to the e-mail contacts can also read the communication and spread via e-mail. "Once the malware has penetrated IT systems, it can possibly reload other malware."
