Augsburg (dpa / lby) - Because of murder and fourfold attempted murder, a 30-year-old man has been standing before the Augsburg regional court since Monday.

The defendant allegedly attacked several members of his wife's family with a knife in a refugee shelter.

A 15-year-old was killed and four other victims suffered injuries, some of which were life-threatening.

According to the prosecution, the trigger for the bloody act was that the 30-year-old's wife wanted to separate.

At the start of the trial, the defendant, an Afghan national, made a partial confession.

His lawyer read a statement that the 30-year-old admitted he was responsible for the youth's death and injuries to others.

He regretted this, it said in the defense attorney's statement.

The defendant describes what happened in the asylum accommodation in such a way that he was also attacked by the later victims.

He didn't want to hurt anyone with the knife.

Six more days of negotiations are planned for the process.

The verdict could be pronounced at the end of January.
