Braunschweig (dpa) - In the fight against the coronavirus, epidemiologist Gérard Krause is convinced that those who actually suffer from Covid-19 must be looked at more closely.

"The number and severity of diseases is much more important than the number of laboratory findings alone," said the scientist from the Braunschweig Helmholtz Center for Infection Research (HZI) on Monday of the German Press Agency.

The number of new infections is the only value for restrictive measures that is problematic.

"For example, you have to know where and in which groups of people and professions the infections are mainly transmitted, or what the supply situation is like in hospitals and nursing homes."

Children spread the virus less than adults, Krause said.

“The possibilities of providing better protection for people at risk, for example in old people's homes, are far from exhausted.

If we had paid as much attention to this area as early and as much as we did to making football matches possible, we might be better positioned here, ”criticized the doctor.
