During their telephone conversation this Saturday evening, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson could only note the significant differences that remain between the EU and the United Kingdom in three key areas: fisheries, competition and dispute resolution.

“The two sides believe that no agreement is possible if these differences are not resolved,” said Ursula von der Leyen.

But we agreed that a further effort must be made by our negotiating teams to see if these differences can be overcome ”.

British and European negotiators meet in Brussels this Sunday.

"We will see if we can move forward," commented Michel Barnier on Twitter.

He will still work with his counterpart for a few hours.

The President of the European Commission and the British Prime Minister must remember Monday evening.
