With the spread of the new coronavirus unstoppable in the United States, the city of San Francisco on the west coast has issued a new order to limit citizens' outings, saying it needs to prevent the health care system from malfunctioning.

According to a summary by Johns Hopkins University in the United States, the death toll in the United States reported on the 3rd was 2,879, the highest ever, and the spread of the infection remains unstoppable.

Under these circumstances, the city of San Francisco issued a new order on the 4th, saying that it is necessary to prevent the medical system from malfunctioning due to the increase in inpatients, in collaboration with the surrounding local governments, to restrict the outing of citizens.

The order will be applied sequentially from the night of the 6th of this month, which means that retailers will be limited to 20% of the number of customers they can accommodate, and restaurants will only be open for take-out and home delivery.

In western California, where San Francisco is located, the state government has decided to order restrictions on going out to areas where the percentage of available ICU (intensive care unit) beds is less than 15%, but in San Francisco it is earlier. I issued an order ahead of schedule because I needed to take action.

Mayor Breed said at a press conference, "The more delays you make, the more patients you have and the harder it is to control the infection," and called on the public to understand and cooperate.
