Rod jumper Armand Duplantis was chosen as the best male and triple jump Yulimar Rojas female athlete of the year.
The Swedish Duplantis is a pole vault ME man.
The ME result 618 in his name was born in February in the hall competition.
Venezuelan Rojas jumped to a world record of 15.43 for indoor tracks in February.
“This was a really special season for me and everyone else, but I was able to do some pretty good results,” Duplantis said on the International Athletics Federation’s World Athletics website.
Duplantis received the Bragdguld Award for Sports Work of the Year in Sweden earlier this week.
The corona pandemic had a strong impact on the athletics season, with Rojas, for example, competing only twice on outdoor tracks.
- Honestly, I didn't expect this, Rojas said of his choice.
The athletes of the year were named at the World Athletics distance gala on Saturday.
