Both houses of the Diet will carry out seismic diagnosis for the first time in about 40 years in order to confirm the seismic resistance of the Diet Building, which has been completed for more than 80 years, and from the 7th, detailed investigation of walls and ceilings, etc. I'm going to start.

The current Parliament Building, which was completed as the Imperial Parliament Building at that time in 1945, is made of reinforced concrete with 4 floors above ground and 1 floor below ground, and it has been 84 years since its completion.

Under these circumstances, a proposal compiled last year by a meeting of experts set up by both houses of the Diet pointed out the need for seismic diagnosis, saying, "It is necessary to consider the possibility of deterioration and continued use immediately after a major earthquake."

In response to this, both houses of the Diet will carry out a seismic diagnosis of the Diet Building for the first time in about 40 years, and from the 7th, the deterioration status of concrete walls and ceiling members, and the building when an earthquake actually occurred We will start a detailed investigation such as how to shake.

This earthquake resistance diagnosis will be carried out until the 4th year of Reiwa, and both houses of the Diet will consider the necessity of reinforcement work based on the diagnosis results.
