Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, December 5-President Xi Jinping's special representative, State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi attended the Security Council's high-level video conference on "United Nations Cooperation with the African Union" on the 4th and delivered a speech.

Wang Yi said that the new crown pneumonia epidemic has exacerbated the global crisis and profoundly affected the political, economic and social development of African countries. The peace and security situation in Africa is facing a series of new challenges.

The United Nations should take active measures to help Africa tide over the difficulties.

In this regard, China puts forward four suggestions: First, focus on uniting the fight against the epidemic and support the African people in building a strong line of defense for health and safety; second, support the African people in building a peaceful and stable homeland with the goal of "eliminating gunfire in Africa"; third, Using the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as a starting point, we support the African people in opening up a vision of universal prosperity; fourth, with fairness and justice as the keynote, we support the African people in sharing the fruits of global governance.

Wang Yi said that China will continue to provide strong support for the African people to embrace peace, help African countries catch up with the train of modernization, and continue to speak up for African countries on the international stage.
