Rettenberg (dpa) - With a bag slide in a family drive-in, Santa Claus distributed gifts in the Allgäu this year.

38 families had registered for the action on Saturday at the fire station of the municipality of Rettenberg in Oberallgäu with the license plates of their cars and sent the organizers little bags and small text for the children.

"This is how it all works without contact," said the organizer Stephanie Voss from the group "Die Rettenbergerinnen".

Their goal is to improve the village community.

Last year, the Nikolaus visit took place on the village square, this time it was not possible due to the corona pandemic.

So the group decided on a drive-in with a bag slide at the fire station. "You can drive around the outside once, four cars have been given a quarter of an hour slot for each visit," explains Voss. Overall, the action lasted two and a half hours. “It was important to us that the children had something,” emphasizes Voss. "Otherwise the visit to St. Nicholas would have been canceled."
