Cottbus (dpa / bb) - Because of the increasing number of corona infections in the south of Brandenburg, a second district has decided to take more stringent measures.

As early as this Saturday, further restrictions on public life apply in the Spree-Neisse district, including a ban on alcohol in public, as the district announced on Friday.

Starting next Monday, all schools from the seventh grade onwards will only offer alternating classes.

Inside the school, mouth and nose protection must be worn from the fifth grade onwards.

Teaching at music and art schools is prohibited.

The stricter conditions come into force by general decree.

The seven-day incidence, which indicates the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days, is 223.4.

A cross-class outbreak is currently being observed in schools, said District Administrator Harald Altekrüger.

"Even if schoolchildren usually do not suffer serious progress, we have to protect the families and school staff," said the district administrator.

The district is well prepared for the crisis model of alternating lessons.

Even in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district, stricter measures will apply from next Monday to curb the increasing number of infections.

The district decided on Thursday.

It is corona focus in Brandenburg with a seven-day incidence of 381.3.

The stricter rules include school operations, the right to visit nursing homes and funerals.

For example, the wearing of a mouth and nose covering should apply in the buildings of primary schools.

Students in secondary schools should be divided into smaller study groups and receive alternating lessons.

In inpatient care facilities, a maximum of one visitor per patient or resident is permitted for a maximum of one hour per day.

Burials may only take place in the closest family circle.

There is also a ban on alcohol in public places.
