Berlin (dpa / bb) - Going to the Berlin Kitkat Club has taken on a new meaning.

In the pandemic, the club has been closed for dissolute parties for many months.

Instead, there are now chargeable corona rapid tests in cooperation with a doctor and trained staff.

There was no shortage of rush on Friday, a queue stretched around the whole house - with more or less distance.

After the current partial lockdown, other Berlin clubs want to follow suit with quick tests.

The aim is that people can move more freely again, said the spokesman for the club commission, Lutz Leichsenring, earlier this week.

Centers are planned where people wanting to go out can be tested quickly and inexpensively before they visit restaurants, bars or even their grandma, he adds.

The clubs offer enough space for this.

The indoor areas have been closed since spring, and many club operators fear for their existence.

In the meantime, events in outdoor areas were possible.

When clubs can reopen is unclear.
