Joël Le Scouarnec was sentenced this Friday, December 4 to 15 years imprisonment for sexual abuse of minors.

A sentence in accordance with the requisitions of the Advocate General, which was accompanied by an obligation of socio-judicial monitoring and an order for care.

The president of the Assize Court, which was held behind closed doors at the request of the victims, justified her decision by explaining that Joël Le Scouarnec, despite his conviction in 2005 for viewing pedophile images, continued his actions.

Fearing a reiteration of the facts, a significant prison sentence was necessary according to the Court.

During the trial, confronted with his victims, the former surgeon ended up releasing a rape confession for the four young girls, acknowledging the facts dating back to the 1990s.

A vast case of pedophilia that continues

After this verdict, Joël le Scouarnec has not yet finished with justice.

This was only the first part of a vast pedophilia case, since the surgeon is suspected of having sexually assaulted or raped 312 people, including many children.

A judicial investigation is underway and should lead in the months or years to a new trial.
