The two poor animals were found dead, in a ditch, ten days ago.

An inhabitant of Saint-Philbert-de-Grandlieu (Loire-Atlantique) will have to explain himself to justice, next January, for "serious abuse committed against a domestic animal", reports the gendarmerie.

This man is indeed suspected of having slaughtered his two Vietnamese pigs, these dwarf pigs increasingly sought after not for their meat, but for their company.

Investigators were able to trace the suspect after butchering the animals revealed that the two pigs, an 80 kg male and a 60 kg female, were shot in the head using a rifle intended for big game hunting.

The man, who said he was overwhelmed by the presence of these pets, admitted the facts.

Wanting to get rid of them, he explained that he had found no other way out than to shoot them down.
