However, the figures are based on whether there would be expanded cycle paths in the entire traffic network, which it does not currently do.

A current situation study carried out by the Region nevertheless shows that approximately 50 per cent of county residents could cycle to work in less than 30 minutes already with today's infrastructure.

- It shows that there is a potential that in our region is poorly utilized if you compare with, for example, Copenhagen or many other cities in Europe, says Gustav Hemming (C), regional councilor with a focus on, among other things, growth and community planning.

The goal for the regional cycle plan is for 20 percent of county residents to take the bike to work by 2030.
