In the last 24 hours, the United States recorded a record number of deaths from the emerging corona virus, and while several countries announced the dates for using the vaccine, the World Health Organization issued a new warning.

According to the latest figures, the emerging corona virus has so far infected more than 65 million around the world, of whom one million and 704 thousand have died.

The United States leads the world in terms of being affected by the emerging coronavirus, with more than 14 million infections and 276,000 deaths recorded so far.

During the past 24 hours, the United States recorded 213,830 injuries and 2,861 deaths.

The US authorities have appealed to citizens to wear masks, and warned that they may have to issue more strict orders to stay at home.

President-elect Joe Biden promised a new nationwide strategy;

Require the wearing of masks by official orders in some locations, including federal buildings, and during interstate travel;

And that is when he takes office at the end of Donald Trump's term on January 20.

In second place, India comes with more than 9 million injuries and 139 thousand deaths, while Brazil ranks third with 6.4 million injuries and more than 175 thousand deaths.

In fourth place, Russia came with 2.4 million injuries, and more than 42 thousand deaths, followed by France with 2.2 million injuries, and 54 thousand and 767 deaths.

The virus continues to spread spectacularly in various parts of the world, and this week witnessed 601,700 new cases recorded per day, an increase of 4% compared to the previous week.

Since last November 24, the virus has caused the death of more than 10 thousand people every day around the world.

Vaccination campaigns

On the other hand, a number of countries announced dates for using the vaccine;

Next week, Britain will begin administering the vaccine to nursing home residents and teams working in it.

Britain is the first country to license the vaccine, "Pfizer-BioNTech", and stressed that the vaccine meets safety standards.

In France, Prime Minister Jean Castex announced that the vaccination will be free for all, and explained that the vaccination campaign will start next January for the elderly in homes for the elderly, and will continue in February to include vulnerable groups, provided that the vaccine is available to all groups of society as of spring.

In the United States, Pfizer-Biontech and Moderna have submitted two license applications to the US Drug Agency.

In the event of getting a green light, the two vaccines could be available at the end of the current year in this country.

In Russia, President Vladimir Putin has requested that "large-scale" vaccinations be available "at the end of next week."

The Sputnik V vaccine - developed by the Gamalia Research Center in Moscow - is in the third and final phase of clinical trials, with the participation of 40,000 volunteers.

And those responsible for the vaccine claim that it is 95% effective, like the "Pfizer-Biontech" vaccine.

For its part, Kazakhstan announced that it would start producing the "Sputnik-V" vaccine on the 22nd of this month.

In order to allow a massive vaccination campaign "as of early next year, with priority given to doctors, teachers and security forces."

In Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the signing of an agreement with Moderna to obtain 6 million doses.

Bahrain said today, Friday, that it has authorized the emergency use of the "Pfizer-Biontech" vaccine to prevent the Corona virus, becoming the second country to authorize this vaccine after Britain.

A new warning

For its part, the World Health Organization warned today, Friday, that the circulation of vaccines does not mean the disappearance of the emerging corona virus.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that recent progress in the field of vaccines to prevent Covid-19 is positive, but the organization is concerned that this may lead to a consideration that the pandemic has ended.

"Progress in vaccines is giving us all a boost, and we can now see the light at the end of the dark tunnel, but the World Health Organization is concerned about the growing belief that the Covid-19 pandemic is over," he added.

Ghebreyesus explained that the pandemic still has a long way to go, and that decisions made by individuals and governments will determine its course in the short term, and when it will end.

The Executive Director of the WHO Health Emergencies Program, Mike Ryan, said, "Vaccines do not mean zero Covid-19, explaining that they alone" cannot do the required work. "

"I think we will see a big decrease if we do that with vaccines and wearing masks," he added. "The numbers will drop significantly."
