04 December 2020 "The American leadership is trying to extend its influence in Europe".

This is supported by the Chinese technology giant Huawei, which also claims to have "every interest in helping the European Union to become a world leader in 5G networks" and argues that operators from the old continent should have "the freedom to choose its suppliers. "

This was said by Huawei's vice president for Europe, Abraham Liu, during the

Web Summit in Lisbon, one of the largest global events dedicated to digital transformation

, broadcast online all over the world, followed by over 100,000 people and of which Huawei has been one of the main sponsors for some years.

The Chinese manager, speaking to the Portuguese press, expressed confidence in the EU's ability to withstand US pressure to exclude Huawei from 5G network infrastructures.

And he expects that the Portuguese presidency of the Council of the European Union, from 1 January 2021, will promote the restoration of global cooperation, questioned "by other powers".

5G world record in Italy

In Italy, in Rome, Tim, Ericsson and Qualcomm Technologies have set the world speed record over long distances with 5G technology applied to Fixed Wireless Access (Fwa).

On Tim's live network a speed of 1 Gigabit per second was achieved over a distance of 6.5 km from the site.

The record confirms the usability of 5G on a millimeter wave spectrum not only for urban, high-speed or high-density use, but also for a wider Fwa 5G coverage.

Soon it will also be tested in the locality of Front in the Canavese in the province of Turin, a white area not yet reached by connection, where a 5G site with millimeter waves has been equipped with a high-capacity radio link.

Subsequently, other industrial districts will be identified where the new technology can be tested.
