Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) - Because she diverted money to her own account for an alleged foster mother, a former employee of the city of Frankfurt was sentenced to one year probation by the local court.

The defendant had worked in the social welfare office and between 2015 and 2019 repeatedly billed expenses of the fictitious foster mother "Frau Koch" and transferred them to her own account.

According to the court's findings, the background was the woman's gambling addiction.

When the inconsistencies came to light after an internal audit, the damage amounted to more than 23,000 euros (Ref .: 7740 Js 217117/19).

The verdict is not yet legally binding.

The defendant made a full confession in court. She wanted to hide her gambling addiction from her husband and has even been blackmailed in the meantime. Because she has already paid back more than 7,000 euros to the city and promised further reparation for the damage, the court imposed a suspended sentence for infidelity.
