Hamburg (dpa / lno) - Deutsche Bahn has hired several thousand new employees in northern Germany this year.

In Schleswig-Holstein there were 450, in Hamburg 1270, in Lower Saxony 1580 and in Bremen 210, as the company announced on Thursday.

This was successful, also because the recruitment at the beginning of the corona pandemic was completely digitized in a very short time.

In Germany, Deutsche Bahn hired 25,000 employees, including 4,700 junior employees.

The company has thus set at a record level and achieved its goal ahead of schedule.

"Despite the Corona crisis, DB is keeping its word," explained DB Personnel Director Martin Seiler. "While other jobs are being cut, Deutsche Bahn continues to invest in staff in difficult times, as well as in trains or in stations." The mobility transition is only possible with people. The railway will also hire and train massive staff in the next year. It offers around 500 job profiles, 50 apprenticeships and 25 dual study programs.
