Oberwiesenthal / Eibenstock (dpa / sn) - After the corona-related end for Saxony's ski areas in December, tourism is hoping for easing in the new year.

"December is definitely through," said the managing director of the Saxony Tourism Marketing Society, Veronika Hiebl, of the German press agency.

"It would be another big loss if the ski areas were closed all season."

The managing director of Fichtelberg Schwebebahn GmbH, René Lötzsch, described such a scenario as a "worst-case scenario".

The tourism experts are not giving up hope yet.

Some slopes in Oberwiesenthal and Eibenstock have been artificially snowed for days in order to create a bit of white splendor.
