The Ministry of Health and Prevention confirmed that the partnership with the private sector is a more effective way to integrate capabilities, explaining that it has outsourced laboratory services to a major company known in this field, which contributed to reducing the costs and expenses of operating laboratory services in the ministry, and enhancing its capabilities to face the large number Of the examinations during the Corona pandemic.

While the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology revealed that the number of standard projects in the food sector reached 1,246 standards, noting that it now has 716 technical regulations.

This came in official correspondence received by the Federal National Council, at the end of last week, in response to parliamentary questions directed by members of the Council to government representatives during the parliamentary recess between the first and second sessions.

In detail, the Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology, Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, stated that the authority is keen to circulate the projects of "standard specifications" to all executive councils in the country and the relevant authorities, to express their opinion, before submitting it for approval by the Council of Ministers. Pointing out that the number of standard projects in the food sector reached 1246 standard specifications.

In a written response to a parliamentary question by a member of the Federal National Council, Dirar Hamid Belhoul Al Falasi, regarding the procedures that the authority takes in following up and monitoring the extent of the authorities ’commitment to implementing and following up the standard specifications approved by it in the food industry, he said that the authority has 716 technical regulations, as has been done The issuance of four UAE regulatory systems with Cabinet decisions for dairy products and dairy products, halal products, food-contact products, and organic food inputs and products.

He added that the National Food Safety Committee, headed by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, supervises the implementation of the provisions of the Federal Law of 2015 regarding food safety, which deals with food safety during the trading stages, while the responsibility for monitoring food products in the state's markets falls within the jurisdiction of the local supervisory authorities of each emirate. .

The Federal National Council also received a written response from the Minister of Health and Community Protection, Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs, Abdul Rahman Al-Owais, to a parliamentary question by Dr. Moza Muhammad Al-Amiri, about the ministry’s efforts to develop national technical cadres working in medical laboratories in hospitals and health centers affiliated with the ministry, where The minister emphasized that partnerships between the public and private sectors are a more effective way to integrate capabilities, empower human cadres and raise competencies, indicating that this partnership is a method followed in the most advanced countries of the world.

The minister stated that, based on this approach, the Ministry entrusted the laboratory services to a large well-known company in this field, whose main objectives were to improve the quality of laboratory services and to provide advanced laboratory services, explaining that this outsourcing contributed to reducing the costs and expenses of operating laboratory services in the ministry, in addition to On enhancing capacity in handling the large number of tests during the Corona pandemic.

The minister pointed out that the ministry’s efforts in this field contributed to 11 of its laboratories obtaining an ISO certificate with the outsourcing company. The percentage of the number of national technicians increased to 3% of the total technical cadres working in the ministry’s laboratories. Al-Owais responded to another question from Dr. Hawa Al-Dahak Al-Mansouri, about the ministry's efforts to confront the spread of medical advertising for some medical devices, pharmaceuticals and medical supplies of unknown source in some media outlets and social media sites, where he said that “the ministry is in charge of monitoring health advertisements by classifying them. He added: “Each of these two types has a special procedure that is followed. The necessary procedure to monitor any health advertisement is audited, and to ensure that it conforms to the conditions, regulations and laws, and in the event of non-compliance, a letter is sent to him, to warn him of the need to adhere to and go to the advertising license that the ministry in turn to make sure What will be published and promoted is identical to the required documents and documents, so the final output will be a meaningful health announcement. ”

The minister pointed out that with regard to the other type of (misleading) advertisements, the Ministry is working hard to limit its spread, in cooperation with strategic partners according to an integrated system, explaining that in cases where it is difficult to reach the concerned person, coordination is made with strategic partners to control these practices.

Supporting centers for people of determination

The Federal National Council received two written responses from the Minister of Community Development, Hessa bint Issa Buhumaid, the first to a question by a member of the Council, Hamid Ali Al-Abbar Al-Shamsi, regarding the Ministry's plan to increase the percentage of material support for all government care and training centers for people of determination.

The minister confirmed that the ministry provides rehabilitation services to people of determination through eight centers covering the country's regions, and the needs of these functional and material centers, facilities and devices are evaluated and included in the ministry’s overall budget before submitting it to the concerned authorities.

The Minister responded to a question by the member Muhammad Issa Al-Kashf, regarding the reasons for the delay in opening the Khalifa House for Family Care, the branch of the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain, confirming that all procedures and preparations related to opening the home had been completed, but as a result of the circumstances of the Corona pandemic, the house was handed over to concerned authorities by the end of this year To be used as part of the national efforts to confront this epidemic, and the opening of the home was postponed in coordination with these authorities.
