DPP member of Taipei City Councillor Chen Yijun recently issued an article saying that the mainland publisher of the book, Changjiang Children's Publishing House, was listed as a strategic partner of the mainland's "Red Reading Program" in 2019 and has the task of "united front" against Taiwan.

DPP public opinion representative Chen Tingfei said that the book "Waiting for Dad to Go Home" even has illustrations of a PLA transport plane, and the DPP authorities "should refuse to read the plan outside Taiwan."
